ALG Celebrates Diwali

The ALG team celebrated the festival of lights together, with bright lights and brighter ethnic wear. With team members also joining through a video call, the evening involved lively interaction, sharing of favourite Diwali memories, good food, photographs and a hugely entertaining card game. We hope everyone had a happy and safe Diwali!

Special Legal Issues Seminar- General IP (SLIS-GP) On ‘CPC Order VI Rule 17 – Different Types Of Amendments To Different Types Of IP Law Suits’

A ‘Special Legal Issues Seminar-General IP’ (SLIS-GIP) was conducted by Aishwarya Pande, Associate, on ‘‘CPC Order VI Rule 17 – Different Types of Amendments to Different Types of IP Law Suits’’. The seminar delved into the legislative history of Order VI Rule 17 and looked into the power of the courts to allow amendments to pleadings by either party. The session saw a discussion on various cases whereby courts have laid down certain guiding principles to be followed while exercising discretion to allow any amendments. The session concluded with a discussion on the various scenarios under the CPC wherein amendments can be allowed.

Practice Work Shop (PWS) On “Is Big Data Technology A Necessary Evil To Keep Up With A Dynamic Society And Its Needs?”

During last week’s Practice Work Shop (PWS) Session, Shilpa Margaret Kurian, Trainee Associate, led a discussion on whether big data technology is a necessary evil to keep up with the dynamic society and its needs. The session followed an engaging discussion on the impact big data technology has on independent creators and their IP protected works. The discussion also delved into whether (sensitive) needs of the society should out-weigh the IP protection afforded to creators, and how this may be dealt with keeping in mind the interests of all concerned persons.
