Second edition of PPH Pilot Program starts from 7th December 2020

The Indian Patent Office (IPO) by its public notice (on November 23, 2020) informed that it will start accepting Form 5-1 under Chapter 5 of the PPH Guidelines from 7th December 2020 as part of the Bilateral Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program that is in effect between the Indian Patent Office (IPO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO) since 2019.

ASCI issued new guidelines for “Online gaming for real money winnings” advertisements

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), released its guidelines for advertisements pertaining to “Online gaming for real money winnings”. The guidelines will be effective from December 15, 2020.

MeitY invites suggestions on draft Data Centre Policy by November 30

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) released draft ‘Data Centre Policy’ with a view to make India a Global Data Centre hub, promote investment in the sector, propel digital economic growth etc. Views/comments/suggestions on the draft can be submitted till November 30, 2020.

Stay granted by any Court to automatically end upon expiry of six months

In Asian Resurfacing of Road Agency Pvt Ltd. & Another v. CBI [Miscellaneous Application No. 1577 of 2020 In Criminal Appeal Nos. 1375-1376 of 2013], a three-judge bench [Rohinton Fali Nariman, Navin Sinha and K.M. Joseph JJ.] of the Supreme Court vide order dated October 15, 2020, re-iterated that when a stay is granted by any Court, unless extended for good reason, it shall automatically expire at the end of six months. Upon expiry the court is required to set a date for trial and proceed.

Existing arrangement of hearings extended by Delhi High Court till January 16, 2021

The Delhi High Court, in view of the escalating coronavirus cases in Delhi, has resolved to extend the present system of hearing matters till 16.01.2021. All the pending routine/ non-urgent matters listed before the Court from 01.l2.2020 to 16.01.2021 have been adjourned en bloc to later dates as mentioned in the order. Per the last full court review, five benches were ordered to hold physical hearing of cases on rotational basis, and the remaining benches were asked to continue taking up matters through video conferencing.
