Karnataka High Court Releases Notification Forming Sub-Committee To Draft Rules For Its IP Division

The Karnataka High Court released a notification on June 20, 2024, forming a sub-committee to draft rules for establishing an IP division in the High Court. The sub-committee comprises of the Judicial Registrar of the Karnataka High Court (Mr. E. Rajeeva Gowda) and Dr. Arul Scaria (Associate Professor, NLSIU). Karnataka High Court now becomes the third High Court, following Delhi and Madras High Courts, to form a dedicated IP division in the country.

MIB Requests Supreme Court For A Single Portal To Upload Self-Declaration Certificates For Advertisements

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has requested the Supreme Court to permit self-declaration certificates for all advertisements to be uploaded on a single portal. This is in response to concerns expressed by the industry concerning the compliance burden of filing self-declarations on two separate platforms, one for TV and radio ads and another for print and internet ads. The Court has orally directed the Ministry to meet with relevant stakeholders and file an affidavit with its recommendations.

CGPDTM Office Announces Trademark And Patent Agent Examination

The CGPDTM Office under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, has notified the dates for the Trademark and Patent Agent Examinations 2025. The Trademark and Patent Exams have been scheduled for January 04, 2025 & January 05, 2025, respectively, followed by personal interview of selected candidates. Interested candidates may apply online and applications will be accepted till August 8, 2024.
