Krithika Muthuraman, Associate, lead an engaging discussion on the prevailing measures to help bridge the gender gap in IP ownership during this week’s Practice Work Shop (PWS) session. The discussion delved into the causes resulting in the gender gap, current measures in place to bridge them and how they can potentially be supplemented by awareness drives, financial schemes or special provisions in procedure.

A Legal Issues Seminar’ (LIS) was conducted by Sri Lekha Rayapati, Associate, on issues such as related to Information Technology, Intermediary Liability & Safe Harbor, Cyberstalking & Other Cyber Crimes etc. The seminar particularly touched upon the offence of identity theft, Intermediary liability & safe harbor provisions and regulation of OTT platforms. The seminar further shed light on the current position of these issues under the Information Technology Act, 2000
While session sparked interesting questions, it concluded with an extensive discussion on whether or not there currently exists a sufficient framework for regulation of OTT Platforms.

The feasibility of such a protection along with pros and cons were discussed at length during the session.
