Interns – Sanskriti Shrimali, Kholi Rakuzhuro and Sarthak Sharma (Final Year Interns) have successfully completed their Internship at ALG. At the end of their internship, they obliged us with their thoughts and ideas during the Sharing of Reflections (SoR) sessions. Their presence enriched the firm while they interned here. ALG Partner Ashwani Balayan will be attending the AIPPI World Congress in San Francisco from September 10-15. This year’s in-person Congress will see a high-level exchange of insights between experts from different countries on intellectual property issues such as trade secrets, unfair competition, patent linkages, moral rights, NFTs, Metaverse, filewrapper estoppels, etc.
A longstanding AIPPI member, Ashwani currently serves on the Patents Standing Committee and Pharma Standing Committee.
A ‘Legal Issues Seminar – General IP’ (LIS-GIP) was conducted by Yash Raj, Trainee Associate, on “Whether Geospatial Data Can Be Accorded Copyright Protection?”. The seminar explored the relevant provisions under the Copyright Act, 1957 in conjunction with the divergent views taken by courts to determine whether geospatial data can be granted copyright protection. The session concluded with an interesting discussion on the applicability of fair dealing provisions to protected geospatial data and whether there is a need for sui-generis legislation to appropriately provide protection of geospatial data.

Recently, ALG Attorneys got together online to welcome the newest additions to the team- Yash Raj, Shubham Singh, Anurathna Mathivanan, Tarini Sharma and Sucharitha Banda in an interactive Ice-breaker session.
